A limited release from late 1998 (although the back cover indicates 1997, but it was first seen in 1998, and the inside booklet is copyrighted 1998). The two-CD set features two different Judy Garland extravaganzas; disc one is "Judy Duets" -- reminiscent of Frank Sinatra's 1993 "Duets" CD. However, each track is interwoven through obviously faked applause that leads from one selection to the next. One thing to mention though -- track 10, which is supposed to feature a melody of "traveling tunes" (similar to the Bobby Darin duet) only features Tony Bennett's solo and then Garland's joining on "I Left My Heart in San Francisco." The second CD is "Judy at the Palace" -- purportedly featuring her entire final night at the Palace in 1952. I say "purpotedly" because members of "The JUDY List" [now disbanded, ed.] have said parts are taken from other performances. However -- to me, at least -- the real gem here is the "Duets" CD, which is simply fantastic. One other comment: the physical packaging stinks, with the two CDs, booklet, and pamphlet stuffed into a little bit of cardboard. However, the booklet itself (as well as the CD artwork) are exquisite, and you could always buy two jewel boxes to keep the CDs in.
