1984 Effanbee Judy Garland as Dorothy

This is my favorite Dorothy doll. There's just something about her that is very special. She is the 1984 Effanbee limited-edition Judy Garland doll, the sixth of Effanbee's Legend Series.

Unlike most Dorothy dolls, this one is truly a Judy Garland Doll. The tag reads "Judy Garland as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz," and she was designed to look like Judy. She is made of vinyl, and stands 14.5 inches. Her dress is a very soft blue and white checkered. She has thick blue cloth stockings, red plastic shoes with gold glitter, mid-thigh white bloomers and a petticoat with lace trim.

She has a somewhat stocky appearance, which gives her sort of a little-girl look. Her face looks more like Judy's than any Dorothy Doll I've seen. She's a very pretty doll! Her hair is dark brown with red highlights, has the French curl like Judy's did, and her braids are tied in pretty blue ribbon. The braids are large and long - quite exaggerated. I bought this doll at a doll show in 1995 for $150.00. I have seen two others for sale since then, and both were priced at $175.00. I don't know how many were made, but production was limited to 1984 only. The booklet that comes with the doll is pictured below.
