Probably, it was she, who caused Humbert’s obsession with young girls of a specific appearance, whom he calls nymphets. Parents took her away from him, and since then he dreams about having relations with a nymphet, however, is afraid of the law. Annabel Leigh dies from a severe disease – typhus. Humbert considered Lolita a reincarnation of Annabel. Humbert still adoring this girl through his whole life, until he meets Lolita.
