1974 Prentice-Hall / Tom Tierney
Thirty from the 30s
In 1974, Prentice-Hall published this book, subtitled "Paperdolls for Grownups", by Tom Tierney. The book is about 60+ pages, consisting of two pages per star. There are 30 paperdolls, each with about 5 costumes. All are movie stars from the 1930s, including Clark Gable, Jean Harlow, Marie Dressler and, of course, Judy Garland. Each of the costumes are from a movie.
Judy's costumes include Love Finds Andy Hardy, Broadway Melody of 1930, Pigskin Parade, Listen Darling and The Wizard of Oz. Can you identify them? Try clicking on each costume to check your answers! All of the dolls and costumes are black and white line drawings to be colored. I've colored several and framed them (see below).
Each doll comes with a little trivia quiz. I've included Judy's below.
I've had this book for a long time, and I don't recall where or when I got it. Try looking in used book stores, antique stores, movie memorabilia shops and paperdoll collector sites on the web.
